"After many trouble free years using our thermapen mk4 which lasted 10 years before we accidentally ran it thru a dishwasher cycle. We grew to really enjoy the ergonomics of it the thermapen one is slightly wider and with a shorter probe compared to the mk4 , that is not that a deal breaker but your hand is closer to the hot food . The thermapen 1 feels overly bulky and the ergonomics not the same the mk4 had a seal near the bottom that helped grip it better and gave you better view of readout and surface area to hold it at any angle , Does read temperature very fast maybe 1 second faster than the old mk4 ."

This is my second Thermapen.

"This is my second Thermapen. The first one was great for a long time but then started being inconsistent after a few years so I ordered me a new one. The new one seems to be inconsistant sometimes also. It will give me one reading if the probe is extended straight out and another reading if it is in the L position. I didn't think the position of the probe was supposed to make a difference. Not really sure about this one yet. Might need to experiment with it more."

Thermal pen

"I've been very happy I give them his gifts. I bought two salvage one from the Goodwill that had a dead battery replace battery where fine gave it away. One pen you have to fit with the pro extension back-and-forth before it'll start to read other than that. Been very happy I've had my first one for about 15 hours. I think shipping is a tad bit expensive."

I have a red Thermapen One and while replacing the battery today the screw broke out of the cover. Is it possible to get a replacement cover?

When the MK4 probe is left open and not folded, does it drain the battery?
Not significantly. Thermapen Mk4 and Thermapen ONE both have auto-off as well as auto-on when the device is picked up again.
